Cars in German City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Authorities reported they were alerted by a man who found a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then found many other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement report early analysis show the liquid was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the community for information.

An important political figure commented the incident left him without words and had to be addressed quickly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the death of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in February 2020.
